Gout is a type of arthritis, and you obviously are not going to argue that arthritis is a serious disease. One of the first symptoms of gout is the inflammation of the ‘’bone’’ at the base of the big toe. The disease evolves, and the inflammatory process affects other joints: knees, ankles and joints of the hands. In addition, these patients may experience high blood pressure and coronary heart disease.
